The German Sheprador is intelligent, affectionate and eager to please. They are great with children and will do well with other pets. This breed is very sociable and make wonderful companions.
Their coat can be more like the Lab, which is short and dense but can also have a hard, straight double coat.
The German Sheprador comes in a variety of colors including chocolate, yellow, black and golden.
Brushing twice a week will help remove dead hair and keep their coat looking nice. Bathing every other month can also help maintain their healthy coat.
The most common health issue to occur in the German Sheprador is hip dysplasia. Other health concerns to watch for are:
• Elbow Dysplasia
• Progressive Retinal Atrophy
• Heart Disease
All mixed breed dogs have a better chance of having less health concerns because of their genetic diversity.
The German Sheprador is a designer breed created through the cross of the German Shepherd and the Labrador Retriever. The German Sheprador is recognized by the ACHC (American Canine Hybrid Club) and can be registered through IDCR (International Designer Canine Registry) and ICA (International Canine Association, Inc).
