Temperament

The Morkie is active, confident and loves attention. This devoted designer breed is highly protective of their owners and may nip if they feel threatened. The Morkie has a high level of alertness, making them excellent watch dogs.

Coat

Their coat is usually long, silky & curly. The Morkie coat is hypoallergenic, for the most part. They lose only small amounts of hair when bathing or brushing.

Coat Colors

Morkie colors are light brown, brown & tan, white, black and other. They commonly have white or brown highlights in their face and/or chest.

Coat Care

Regular grooming is necessary to prevent their coat from tangling or matting. You can help to prevent tear stains in this breed by bathing regularly and combing around their eyes.

Health

The Morkie life expectancy is between 12 – 16 years. Health concerns to watch for are:
• Patellar Luxation
• Eye & Ear Infections
• Cataracts
All mixed breed dogs have a better chance of having less health concerns because of their genetic diversity.

History

The Morkie is a designer breed created through the cross of the Maltese and the Yorkie breed. The Morkie is recognized by the ACHC (American Canine Hybrid Club). This designer breed can also be registered through IDCR (International Designer Canine Registry) and ICA (International Canine Association, Inc).
