Cavachon Breed Overview

Want to bring home an adorable Cavachon puppy for sale? You’ve come to the right place. At Keystone Puppies, our mission is to help Cavachon puppies find their forever homes. In addition to Cavachons, we work with a range of other breeds — including Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Cavapoos, Cockapoos, and more! All our puppies are bred with the highest standards of ethical integrity — free of common genetic defects that impact less responsible breeders — and are raised in happy homes where they’re treated like part of the family before becoming part of yours!

The Cavachon is a relatively new breed of dog, having only been around since 1996. However, the Cavachon has quickly become a popular choice for families looking for a loving and gentle companion. This breed is a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Bichon Frise. The mix results in a small, yet sturdy dog that is known for being affectionate and good with children. Cavachons typically have soft, curly coats that can be either white or light brown in color. Due to their gentle nature, these dogs make excellent therapy dogs and are often used in nursing homes and hospitals to provide comfort to patients.

If you are looking for a furry friend that will bring joy to your life, then consider adding a Cavachon to your family.

Cavachon Puppies Temperament

Although they are small in size, they have big personalities. This is a breed that was developed from two-lap dog breeds, so they definitely have all the traits of a good cuddler. They are extremely affectionate and need lots of attention to stay calm and centered. Cavachons are very social creatures and enjoy being around people. They are also very playful and active, making them great pets for families with children. While they don’t need lots of vigorous outdoor exercise every day, a short daily walk will keep them happy. Cavachons are relatively easy to train, and they are typically very good at following commands. However, they can be stubborn at times and may need some extra patience when it comes to potty training. Overall, Cavachons are intelligent, affectionate dogs that make great family pets.

Cavachon Puppy Health Considerations

Though generally very happy and long-lived — with an average lifespan of around 11-15 years — our Cavachons for sale are not without their unique health concerns. Like every breed of dog, there are a few conditions you should be aware of before you consider purchasing one of our Cavachon puppies for sale. Understanding the risks allows you to know the signs and prevent small health concerns from turning into big ones. Cavachon puppies are at a somewhat elevated risk for developing the following conditions:

  • Hip Dysplasia
  • Ear & Eye Infections
  • Seizures
  • Mitral Valve Disease (MVD)

Allergies are one of the most common health problems in Cavachons. Many Cavachons suffer from environmental allergies, which can cause symptoms such as scratching, licking, and hair loss. Food allergies are less common, but they can also be a problem for some dogs. If your pup seems to be allergic to something in his diet, talk to your veterinarian about switching to hypoallergenic food.

Eye problems are also relatively common in Cavachons. Some of the most common issues include cataracts and glaucoma. Cavachons may also be born with eyelid abnormalities that can cause tears to drain improperly from the eye. These conditions can usually be treated with surgery or medication.

With some basic knowledge of the breed’s health concerns, you can be sure to give your Cavachon the best possible chance at a long and healthy life. Finding a Cavachon puppy for sale from a reputable breeder can also dramatically — although, not eliminate — the risk of your dog developing some of these conditions. At Keystone Puppies, we work exclusively with experienced breeders who are committed to producing healthy & happy pups. Cavachon Puppy Coat & Coat Care

The coat is usually soft and curly and stands away from their body.

Cavachons have a distinctive appearance, with a soft, fluffy coat that can come in a variety of colors. While their coats may seem low-maintenance, they actually require daily brushing to prevent mats and tangles. Their coats need regular grooming every 4-6 weeks and are often trimmed short. Tear stains can be an issue, so wipe your eyes daily with a clean, damp cloth. Check with your vet to see if your Cavachon should have its tear ducts flushed periodically.

Cavachon Reviews

  • Our Cavachon, Chloe, was a very intelligent and affectionate dog! She loved her family more than anything and although small she was quite mighty and would try to protect us at all costs. The Cavachon is a fabulous breed! We miss our Chloe every day!
